The biggest challenge facing anyone starting out in affiliate marketing -- in my opinion -- is the feeling of isolation.

I clearly remember how lonely I felt in the beginning, building my first few sites in the basement and nervously wondering, 'am I doing it right?'

Or, 'is this really going to work?'

Like you, maybe, I wasn't even sure if my 'pay-codes' were properly imbedded.

I constantly fretted about whether the search engines would rank me high enough to get traffic.  And the wait for indexing was almost unbearable at times.

'What I needed was an example of success.'

In those early days, I would have paid thousands to anyone with a proven track record if they would talk to me about their 'real life' experience on the Net with affiliate programs.

Wouldn't it be great, I thought, if I had such a mentor, and I could get him (or her) on the phone every few weeks, just to chat for a half hour or so.

What a confidence builder that would be, to hear about his successes -- and failures -- first hand.  Then, I wouldn't have to be constantly wondering if there is light at the end of the tunnel.

Just the fact of 'knowing' there was someone out there who had a 'handle' on this business would have provided the inspiration I desperately needed, as I started out with affiliate programs.

And if there was some 'little thing' I needed clarification about, he could easily set me straight, without wasting a lot of time myself digging through the chat rooms and forums to find out, -- followed, of course, by the inevitable second guessing.

Just being able to pick his brain about how he sets goals and stays motivated during the predictable 'rough spots' associated with entrepreneurship would have been invaluable.

Because frankly, there were times when I felt like calling it quits.

It occurred to us both that I often discussed things in casual conversations on the phone that could, conceivably, alter your whole approach to affiliate marketing.

If for no other reason, than you could get an 'insiders' peek into my business and personal life that has been completely transformed, in a financial sense, by developing high traffic web sites, as an affiliate for hundreds of merchants in numerous industries.

And although these calls would require pre-recording, they could be open-ended enough to allow for the spontaneity one would expect when overhearing friends talking about the ups and downs of their business.

Thankfully, I was able to recognize my mistake and take corrective action.

Frankly, there is nothing more depressing than to see one of your websites go from -- 1000 visitors a day to ZERO visitors a day -- between the time you go to bed at night and the time you reboot your computer in the morning.
